Exhibition Summary

Title: Evocation of Space (空间)
Name of Artist: Tan Rui Rong (谭 瑞 荣)
Venue: UOB Art Gallery, UOB Plaza 1, 80 Raffles Place, Singapore 048624

UOB Art Gallery is proud to present 18 artworks by Mr Tan Rui Rong, 2013 UOB Painting of the Year Silver Award winner (Established Artist Category) as its next artist showcase.

Evocation of Space explores the artist’s perspective on the richness of life in Singapore, where the East converges with the West, and the traditional co-exists with the modern way of living. Mr Tan’s signature style is displayed through the use of large format Chinese characters and visual metaphors to convey his ideas. What appears to be the use of traditional calligraphy ink brush strokes on paper is actually intricate acrylic paint on canvas upon closer look, displaying a harmonious union of old traditions with new approaches.
