Mr Amrit Chusuwan is one of Thailand’s most prominent artists. In his early career, he had received a scholarship and diploma from the ASP Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, Poland. He was the winner of the 32nd National Exhibition of Art in 1986 before he held his debut solo exhibition in Poland in 1989. Mr Amrit has organised many international exhibitions and had served as curator and artist consultant for the Venice Biennale, Italy. Mr Amrit was also Dean of the Faculty of Painting Sculpture and Graphic Arts, Silpakorn University in Thailand from 2013 to 2017.
Mr Amrit was among the pioneering artists in Thailand who experimented with conceptual painting in the 1980s. From the 1990s, Mr Amrit has been working largely on video installations and interactive art, where the audience was invited to be part of his works. He has exhibited both internationally and regionally in solo and group exhibitions.
At present, Mr Amrit is a consultant and curator of Art Mill, Songkhla Art Centre in Thailand.
