Title: Camouflage “Flackterns”
Medium: Oil on canvas
Size (cm): 100 x 200
Camouflage “Flackterns” uses the concept of camouflage to question the idea of visual harmony.
Much like how camouflage deceives the eye through paint and patterns by blending in with the surroundings, the artist’s use of colours in the artwork disguises the abnormal placement of objects in the space. The resulting composition is a jarring and contrasting image made up of visuals that do not seem to harmonise with each other.
Through this painting, the artist hopes to convey a sense of disharmony and juxtaposition, a representation of the typical media content seen today that is often made up of images combined from various sources. It is also a metaphor for the rampant way in which images in the virtual reality domain are being disguised to deceive in this interactive communication era.
