Mr Yunu touches hearts with a magnificent portrait of his beloved grandmother which expresses the strong religious values and belief in goodness that she imparted to him as a child.
To the artist, the world today is materialistic - full of competition, struggles and a desire for power and fortune. He feels that it is through religion that people learn to be good, decent and refrain from doing injustice to others. A Muslim who prays five times a day, Mr Yunu wrote his prayer repeatedly onto his painting with each prayer session to remind himself to do good deeds. "By praying five times each day, we gain an audience with God in a calm and self-controlled manner," he says. This allows the mind to be cleansed, serene and content with a clear conscience in life.
