Artist: Chua Say Hua
Title: Wall of Inscriptions
Medium: Ink and pigment on rice paper
Size (cm): 125 x 125
Through his painting, Mr Chua explores the themes of the increasing income disparity between the rich and the poor, the rise of the nouveau riche and the excessive consumption that results in waste and decadence.
Mr Chua has applied large amounts of ink, pigment and wash to form pools and puddles that coalesce to suggest old shophouses and high-rise buildings, as well as the culture of excess that defines our time.
